In A Visit to the Doggie Doctor by Papa Paws, Molly Paws and her sisters head to the Poochieville Vet Clinic for a checkup. Even though they aren't sick, they learn that regular visits help them stay healthy. While waiting, they find out that dog time is different from human time -- five minutes feels like thirty-five to a pup. To pass the time, the dogs and their toys pile onto a scale to see that they weigh a total of 70 pounds. They also learn that cats can be patients, too. They show kindness by giving their friend Macy a lucky ducky to help her feel brave while getting her medical cone removed. When it was their turn, Dr. Barkly and Nurse Patience checked their ears, eyes, and hearts in the exam room. Miss Mia took mints to make sure their breath was fresh for the doctor. Momo showed bravery by getting a quick shot. When everyone was finished and found to be in perfect health, they were given a doggie bag of treats as a reward for being good patients.

A Visit to the Doggie Doctor by Papa Paws is a sweet story about a normal day at the vet. It turns a scary trip to the clinic into a fun adventure. The narrative has a friendly tone and uses bright, colorful illustrations and photos. It helps kids learn by using funny word jokes and easy math problems. We see the dogs in the story learn and change, too. From being nervous or tired of waiting, they become patient. They show that they are brave and kind by helping their friend, and they all behave quite well during their check-up. The pacing is steady, and the action comes from the small moments. The themes are courage, kindness, and health. Going to the doctor isn't just for when you're sick; it's about staying healthy. Recommended for toddlers, young children, or pet owners who want to help a child feel less afraid of their own doctor visits.
