A Well Gnome Fact by Mrs. April Grosse spins the tale of a young boy named Oliver and the mysterious bed inhabited by Gnomes that he inherits from his grandfather. Oliver is a kind and thoughtful 10-year-old, but cannot bear to part with anything. He has hoarded away all of his old and outgrown toys deep in the attic, where they've been forgotten. The Gnomes want to impart upon Oliver an important lesson, or as they call it a “well gnome fact”. They set about leaving hints for Oliver as he sleeps, as they wish to remain hidden from sight. Oliver's parents and siblings think he is pranking them, refusing to entertain the idea of Gnomes, but his grandfather knows differently. As Christmas approaches, the Gnomes worry that their efforts may not be enough to impart the lesson Oliver so desperately needs to learn. Will Oliver figure it out or will the Gnomes' efforts be in vain?

In A Well Gnome Fact, Mrs. April Grosse has told an endearing story about love, the magic of giving and the spirit of Christmas. Mrs. Grosse's characters are humorous, lovable and believable. They are a delight to read about. The intricate depictions of the Gnomes and their complex inner workings within Oliver's bed are perfection. I lost count of how many times I teared up while reading this novel. A Well Gnome Fact truly is a heart-warming tale and it would be a great story for families to treasure and cherish together.
