He liked sketching pictures and became excited hearing about the School Art Show, wondering what to draw. That night, he played with his favorite crayons before sleeping. Maj, a colorless crayon, was unhappy. Red, Orange, and the other crayons said their colors were significant to Alex, but Maj wondered why she remained unused. The next morning, Alex was inspired to draw a rainbow with the crayons. It looked nice, yet something was lacking. He was about to discard the paper, but heard a voice and saw Maj behind the crayon box. Alex picked up the broken crayon, wrapped it with new paper, and wrote “Maj” on it. However, he was proven wrong when he wanted to improve his drawing and gave Majestic a chance. Children will learn that we all have special skills or talents that we’re good at. Everyone deserves a chance to shine. I loved the amazing illustrations by Pamela Boullier Ross that enhanced the story. This is a tale of learning to accept others who are different, and learning to appreciate who we are, despite what others may think of us. The Story of Maj is highly recommended.
