Addicted: Recovering From Marijuana Addiction by Kathy D. is a detailed account of her life and fight against addiction. When Kathy was born, her mother decided to give her up for adoption since her father was not ready to be a dad. A month later, her father changed his mind, and the family was reunited. Another significant event in her life was her parents' divorce, for which she blamed herself, and her father's marriage to Ursula, her abusive and violent stepmother, for which she also blamed herself. Kathy's life was also influenced by her interaction with the juvenile justice system. Both sides of her family had alcoholics, but what really influences one to take drugs between genetics and environment? Kathy finds herself unable to stop smoking weed and using more hard drugs, which affects both her social and financial situation.

It's a blessing to read Addicted: Recovering From Marijuana Addiction by Kathy D. at such a time when everywhere on the globe the use of marijuana is being legalized, making it more accessible to all kinds of people. Many times I have heard that weed is not addictive or a little alcohol is not bad, but how true is this? With her experiences, Kathy D. offers valuable information on this subject. As she correctly observes, things like alcohol and marijuana often lead to other addictions. I loved how she vividly captured her life, which I believe will resonate with many readers. This thought-provoking work also got me thinking about how upbringing and society in general affect how people turn out. I look forward to reading something else by Kathy D.
