Al & Rollu by Vaidu Klis is a delightful start to a new series. Rollu Parimyaitis is an exceptionally beautiful Astralnaut, someone who travels on the astral plane and belongs to a group called the Awakened Ones. She attained this wonderful ability to leave her body and travel on the astral plane when she found an unusual crystal while walking near the Baltic Sea. It immediately brought this ability into being. She is also a model, a motor bike racer, and interested in an ancient lost tribe called the Curonians. She is searching for her betrothed, which a prophecy has foretold, and he will be the one to receive the crystal. She journeys to St Petersburg for some modeling work and motor bike racing. Albert (Al) Rogof is a young man living in St Petersburg, who has an unusual ability to heal people. Whenever he heals someone, it drains him physically and he experiences the injuries of those he has healed. Rollu's friend, Tammy, lives in St Petersburg and is currently separated from her husband, Arkady. She offers Rollu her apartment to stay in while she is away, attempting to reconcile with her husband. Rollu meets Al on a web chat and they decide to meet up. A mysterious man, Alistair Rogand, makes an appearance and things start to heat up.
A delightful short story of an unusual young woman who embraces life fully! An interesting tale exploring astral travel, romance, and the naïveté of a young woman searching for love. The book is most certainly the start of a delightful series, which one will await with eager anticipation. Looking forward, one expects Rollu to undergo some even more interesting adventures on her journey. The characters are interesting, with the promise of more to be revealed, and you are quickly drawn into the story, waiting to see what's going to happen next. A must-read first episode in what promises to an awesome series. Expect the cliffhanger, though!
