All That Glisters by Topper Jones is a mystery that would appeal to young adults and adults who enjoy fast-paced mystery stories and don’t mind a bit of graphic violence. Forensic consultant Thaddeus Hanlon is left suspicious when his best friend dies after becoming involved in a secret investigation. His suspicions lead Thaddeus to team up with the fiancée of his dead friend, who has her own set of suspicions. The two quickly find themselves in over their heads as their investigation leads to a brutal manhunt. Will the pair of sleuths manage to solve the mystery, or will they perish in their attempt?

All That Glisters by Topper Jones is well-written with not a single dull moment. I liked the way the author included elements of action, mystery, and even some cyber investigating. While I did like Thaddeus Hanlon, it was Bri de la Guerra who quickly rose to the spot of my favorite character as I could not help but admire her determination to discover the truth behind the death of her fiancé and her unwillingness to allow anything to sideline her quest to discover the truth. Overall, I found this book to be an amazing read. I loved that the main character was not a cop or an agent but instead was a forensic consultant as it gave the book a uniqueness that set it apart from all other mysteries that I have previously read.

All That Glisters, a Thad Hanlon and Bri de la Guerra mystery by Topper Jones, kept me on my toes from the first page. Thad, Bri, and Marissa were informed of their good friend and Bri’s fiancé Rafi Silva’s suicide. Bri immediately suspected foul play as certain things were not as they should have been, such as a missing engagement photo and Rafi’s financial affairs that were not in order. When Thad replaced Rafi on the top secret Gold II audit he was working on, he made a promise to Bri that they would try to solve Rafi’s mysterious death together. Before long Thad realized that there was more at play than met the eye. When Marissa and her Aunt Nika were robbed at gunpoint, a series of events was set in motion that changed Thad forever.

If I ever thought that accounting was boring, Topper Jones proved me wrong in more than one respect. All That Glisters is an epic from the outset. The author wrote the story in a manner that ensured that anybody would understand the world of accounting. This was an easy read and extremely entertaining. I wasn’t able to put the book down as the plot is exceptionally interesting and filled with everything from action to drama. There is also great character development on the part of Thad, as he starts as a rule follower and ends up as a rule breaker. Any mystery lover will enjoy this debut novel immensely, as I certainly did.

All That Glisters is a mystery by Topper Jones. Thaddeus Hanlon received a call informing him that his best friend and surf buddy had committed suicide. Rafi’s fiancée Bri was convinced that Rafi was murdered. Rafi was conducting an audit for Gold II and was working undercover at the request of the client. Thad was asked to take over the Gold II audits and had to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Thad was sworn to secrecy because of the sensitive nature of this assignment and also had to go undercover. Thad was determined to find the truth behind Rafi’s death, and Bri joined him in his hunt for answers. Thad and Bri’s investigation triggered a hunt to silence anyone who got in the way of those involved. Will Thad and Bri find the answers they are looking for?

All That Glisters was fast-paced and jam-packed with action. Topper Jones took me on a roller coaster ride of murder, mystery, and politics. I was intrigued from the start. There was never a dull moment, and one chapter flowed into the next. All the twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. I just kept turning the pages, eager to know what would happen next. The characters were excellently developed. They were authentic and robust. Thad and Bri worked comfortably together to find answers to Rafi's death since they had been friends for a long time. One was more determined than the other. The story is exceptionally well written and kept me guessing until the end.
