Do you like tales of horror? If so, Alex Grass's Infernal Tramps: Tales of Weird Terror, a collection of seventeen terrifying short stories, is the book for you. A man becomes enamored with his latest apparatus because it keeps critters out of his garden quite efficiently, not knowing it is capable of much more. In a post-apocalyptic world afflicted by the plague, humans have unwittingly gone through a bubonic transformation. An extraordinary woman kills two birds with one stone by eliminating rude people and revitalizing herself to write a long-overdue book. A witch keeps her partner on a leash by forcing him to fight Great Danes and reviving him over and over again. A colony of anthropoids in the far reaches of space is transfixed by the actions of its only human inhabitant.
The stories in Infernal Tramps really pull the rug out from under your feet. This collection of unpredictable, genuinely scary tales will have most readers chewing their nails as they read. I'm a longtime fan of horror, and nothing could have prepared me for some of the twists and turns of these narratives. Author Alex Grass clearly has a very vivid imagination. The author doesn't shy away from depicting gore or other terrifying stuff in his descriptions, and so you end up with something that will scare even the most ardent horror aficionado. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the stories, but I really enjoyed this book. It's a testament to Grass's writing ability that he created so much atmosphere in these short narratives. Highly recommended.
