Tess Manchester’s Along Came Revenge is about the adventures of a time-hacking cop named Blake Parsons. U.S. Marshal Blake was getting settled in her new life as a teacher, away from danger and away from the adrenaline rush she used to feel in the field. She and her girlfriend Naomi were now planning to settle down and start a new life together in peace. However, just as Blake was getting settled, their plans for a normal future were suddenly put on hold when a fugitive that Blake caught from the past made bail. He was now determined to hunt her down, putting her loved ones in harm’s way. With the help of her unique gift which altered the past, Blake tries to keep the people she cares about safe. Will she be able to stop the sadistic criminal and handle the consequences brought by changing the past?
Along Came Revenge is a well-written, engaging piece that will leave you on the edge of your seat with every page turned. The story was explained smoothly and so convincingly that it also made me wonder if my déjà vu moments were the effects of someone going back in time. I felt really nervous when Blake would go back in time; the consequences of her power were heavy and if I were in her shoes I would have freaked out or bawled my eyes out after altering time. I also felt heartbroken at times. I took a liking to Bridgeton’s character because he was always there and he always believed in Blake. The characters of this book were so unique and realistic that I couldn’t help but be drawn in. Overall, Tess Manchester’s Along Came Revenge is a brilliant piece. It was definitely worth the read! Great work!
