In Always A Bridesmaid by Jana Richards, we meet Dani DiPietro and Zach Morrison. Dani believes she is an ugly duckling surrounded by her beautiful friends and sisters-in-law. As a result of her poor self-confidence and inability to say ‘no,’ she has been bridesmaid at more than a dozen weddings. But when she is a bridesmaid at Zach and Chantal's wedding, she makes a connection with the groom. Zach is the groom in the wedding that wasn’t ... due to his fiancée’s infidelity. He appreciates the kindness shown to him by Dani and he doesn’t forget her. When Dani and Zach spend a weekend acting the part of a happy couple to keep his ex’s claws out of him, they blur the line between fact and fiction. Jana Richards has created two wonderfully vulnerable and loving characters in Dani and Zach and they drive the story.
In Always A Bridesmaid, we get to see Dani grow as a woman who deserves a loving man. Jana Richards shows us just how damaged Dani is due to her body image issues and that makes her real. But Zach isn’t just a handsome man who could have his pick of the women. Well, he is gorgeous but he is also vulnerable and can’t trust as easily as he should. His romantic past dictates his behavior, just as much as Dani’s does, so it is a pleasure to watch them fight the feelings growing between them. There were plenty of great characters that made this a great read, including Jonathan, Camp, and Dani’s brother, Tony. Always A Bridesmaid had the perfect combination of humor, heartbreak and romance to make it an unforgettable read.
