Daniel Mendoza is back. His main client, Royal Phoenix Resorts, is in trouble again. This time, it’s being sued by Jennifer Adams, a hard-core party girl. While hanging out by the pool at the Arizona branch of the Regal Phoenix Resort and Spa, she got bored and decided to liven up the party. When she thought the barman wasn’t looking, she grabbed a bottle of tequila, ran to her car, and drove out of the car park while drunk. Her Mercedes hit one of the resort’s delivery trucks that was coming in the opposite direction. She ended up in the hospital with neck and back pain, a concussion, and almost a total loss of memory. So she and her family are suing Regal Phoenix for damages. Daniel and his team, including investigator Pamela Williams, take a deep dive into Jennifer’s life as they’re not convinced she has a case. At the same time, machinations are going on behind Daniel’s back, and he receives several shocks in a row. Can he prove that Jennifer’s story doesn’t add up? Can he resolve his many issues, and just who is the observer that’s also following Jennifer? Read Amnesia by Daniel Maldonado to find out.

Amnesia is the sixth book in the Daniel Mendoza Thriller Series. I’ve read the first book and one from the spin-off series. Six books into the series, and there’s a lot of backstory, which is particularly relevant in this narrative. While Daniel Maldonado clearly explains what’s happened in the past, I feel that if I’d read books two to five, I’d be even clearer on all the details. One of the reasons I’m a fan of this author is that there’s always a lot going on in the book. He handles this exceptionally well by providing clear breaks in each chapter so the reader can easily flip between storylines. I never once felt out of synch with what was going on. I love a flawed protagonist, and Daniel Mendoza certainly has his demons. He’s seeking therapy to try to deal with PTSD and his love life issues. As always, there are plenty of twists and turns, most of which the reader will never see coming. I’m going to read books two to five and anxiously wait for book seven. Thriller readers, go out and get this book today.
