Aoleon The Martian Girl Saga Books 1-5: A Middle-Grade Science Fiction and Fantasy Series for Kids aged 9-12 by Brent LeVasseur is an incredibly entertaining series of books, filled with colorful and elaborate pictures, that tells the story of Gilbert, a young boy who is taken on adventures in outer space with aliens called the Circlemakers. It is full of short sections and entertaining tongue-in-cheek jokes that make it both inspiring and humorous as we follow Gilbert on his journey. This boxed set collection includes five books about Aoleon, the Martian girl who becomes Gilbert's friend and takes him on his journeys.
I enjoyed the pictures quite a bit. They seemed similar to the computer generated images of a lot of modern television shows for children, which will help kids who are picking this series up to delve right into the world. The dialogue is playful and mischievous, and the world is brought to light with a sort of naive innocence that makes it very enjoyable. For example, at a military base, a soldier sees a blip on his radar as the spaceship is passing through, but when it doesn't repeat itself he goes back to playing his video game, annoyed that his character died.
The world and universe being built are full of vivid imagery and fun characters, and this story is perfect for children just learning how to read and looking for a more complex story to satisfy their tastes. Aoleon The Martian Girl Saga Books 1-5: A Middle-Grade Science Fiction and Fantasy Series for Kids aged 9-12 by Brent LeVasseur is brilliantly written and well worth the read! Fantastic stories, and I absolutely loved the pictures.
