Assassination of Hope is a young adult space opera novel by Justin Doyle. With his heroics during the fight against the embargo, Darynn Mark has become an overnight celebrity on Vastire. To reward him for his achievements, the Grand Cardinal organizes a Lifting ceremony to raise Darynn's status. However, the ceremony turns out to be a sham, and soon Darynn finds himself alongside his allies, Fyra Solia and Kaylaa Reesae, setting off for the frozen world of Yiptae in order to learn the secrets of the Iveleen gods. But Yiptae is in the midst of intense civil war, and the murder of an immigration rights leader makes things further complicated. Meanwhile, Darynn must not lose himself to his powers, while Kaylaa has her own family's past to uncover. What they discover will change the course of their lives forever.

Author Justin Doyle has crafted an epic sci-fi saga set in space that fans of Dune or Star Trek will find thoroughly captivating. Full of action, political intrigue, and rich lore, Assassination of Hope is an absolute page-turner of a novel devoid of fluff. The twists and turns keep you on your toes, and the reveals add layers of backstories to the characters. Each primary character has their own motives and inner conflicts that they must navigate, and it makes them all the more compelling to read. Darynn, Fyra, and Kaylaa make an excellent trio, and their inter-dynamics were one of my favorite aspects of the book. If you love science fiction, don't miss out on this one.
