Gaining the wisdom and strength from her past thanks to the positive people in her life, including her foster mom, wife, sister-in-law, editor and last, but not least 4 Paws Games and Publishing; Mila is now a Non-Fiction writer sharing the events of her life story. Mila has chosen to keep her identity private to protect the identities of those mentioned in her book. All names and locations have been changed as well.

Behind Closed Doors by Mila Cassandre was a depressing but good story. Cassandre tells her story about growing up in a world where everyone is against her, including herself. It is not until later in her life that she was able to find happiness. This book is not for everyone! Mila Cassandre has led a very troubled life. Born to a mother that always put herself first before her kids’ safety, Cassandre was constantly sexually abused by the many men in her mother’s life. Because of this, Cassandre fell into drugs and alcohol at an early age. In Behind Closed Doors, Cassandre bares her soul and tells the reader her experiences about being raped, living in foster care, and becoming a teenage prostitute. Cassandre’s life has been filled with disappointing people and dangerous situations.
At times during her story, I felt that Cassandre was a danger to herself. She was constantly picking the worst people to have a relationship with. Cassandre’s story did, however, make me see why she did what she did. This has helped me to better understand some people in my own life that are very similar to Cassandre. Somehow Cassandre managed to turn her life around and find the happiness that she longed for her whole life. I can see Cassandre’s story helping a lot of people. For that I am recommending it to people who need to know that overcoming your addictions is possible. It may not be an easy read, but it is worth it!
