Beyond the Love Curse: The Journey Continues – Own Your Power is a work of biographical life experiences geared towards self-help and advice for others. It was penned by Yassin Hall with the help of Brenda Green, continuing her experiences from Journey Untold, where Yassin discussed her life growing up with a mentally ill mother. In this installment, Hall examines the nature of society to pair people up, even when they may need time and space to heal themselves, and how this ‘love curse’ leads to toxic relationships and poor self-esteem. The narrative centers on her journey as a wife, a single woman, and also the mother of special needs children.
Yassin Hall and Brenda Green hit the concept right on the head with this frank and honest discussion about singlehood and the true path to success. There is a wonderful balance between the idea of accepting love and trying out relationships, but also discussing how you shouldn’t be ashamed if you want to be single, and how being in relationships can cause more problems than solve them if you’re not working on your own joy and wholeness.
