Bloodmoon Cove Spirits Series, Book 1: Bound Spirits by Karen Wiesner is an eerie, ghostly story. Bloodmoon Cove Park is known for its history of ghosts. The sheriff shut down the park after the death of Dave Kotter there last year. Troy and his three stooges saunter into the park where a ghost dog greets them. Troy joins the missing list while his friends escape. Dave's son John quits his job and comes to investigate. Although the park had been closed after his father's death, there is someone living there. He meets Esmeralda and lets her stay there. Both of them try to find out the truth behind the mystery lurking in that area.
The plot is excellent and filled with mystery, suspense, fear, and intrigue. It is gripping and takes readers into all sorts of forbidden zones where their minds would not have gone earlier. The beauty of the story is that in the midst of all the ghosts and strange happenings, the author has deftly woven a romantic subplot which adds to the interest of the story.
The ghosts haunting Esmeralda and her past give a separate angle to the theme. And the romantic element makes the story a bit more soft and gentle in the midst of angry and vengeful ghosts lurking at Bloodmoon Cove Park. The narration and detailing of the story is perfect. The author's skill in weaving many plot threads together and syncing them perfectly is the strong point of the book.
