Borrowed Wings: A Novel by Ruthie Morgan is Book 2 of the Skylark series. Billy Skylark is doing her best to overcome tragedy, to put her world back together again. Jack will do anything not to hear or see the truth, but although they try to build their future together, everything threatens to come tumbling down again when Jack’s brother arrives. Jack’s past is torn wide open and now he must deal with it as Billy faces life on her own once again. St Cloud storms add to the trouble and everyone must deal with the drama. Dan is helpless to stop himself hurting those he loves the most, while Sadie’s secret threatens to uproot her and Jed. Virginia must face the truth that will change her world forever.
Borrowed Wings: A Novel (Skylark Series Book 2) by Ruthie Morgan is an amazing sequel to Skylark. Continuing exactly where the previous book left off, this is written from the point of view of many of the characters. I would not recommend attempting to read it without having read Skylark first. Although you might make some sense of it, it is best read in sequence to get the full story. The story follows a true path, and there is a lot of diversity in the story line – friendship, parents getting older, grief, being a mother, and fighting with family all come together under one umbrella, each part woven seamlessly into an intricate story. The character development has been neatly built on from Skylark, taking us deeper into the lives of the characters. The plot is full of drama and is brilliantly written, filled with rich descriptions and bringing the story to life. Another excellent offering from Ms. Morgan, and I'm looking forward to more of this series.
