Immerse yourself in the adventures of a playful monkey and his friends with Jeffrey Morgan's Bungo the Funky Monkey Learns Manners. This delightful picture book follows the story of Bungo, a young monkey who loves to dance and have fun. But Bungo lacks a few social manners. He slurps when he eats and speaks with food in his mouth. One day, his friends intervene and tell Bungo that to be truly "funky," he has to learn basic manners. One by one, each of his friends -- Ace the tiger, Roxie the fox, Lou Lou the zebra, and Canon the bear -- offer Bungo a few lessons on good manners. Bungo, being a kind and polite monkey, listens to his friends' advice and learns his manners. Now, he is free to have fun.
Using rhyme and lively illustrations, author Jeffrey Morgan tells a heartwarming tale that is sure to bring joy to children and teach them a few valuable lessons about good manners. It never hurts to be kind to others and be respectful of people's boundaries, and this is what Bungo's friends teach him in this uplifting adventure story. The characters are sweet and kind-hearted. Their personalities come out through the artwork, especially Bungo. Despite his initial lack of manners, Bungo takes his friends' words to heart and finds the resolve to be more thoughtful and civil in the company of others. Young readers will find a lot to love and learn in Bungo the Funky Monkey Learns Manners. All in all, it's an entertaining picture book with catchy rhymes that I highly recommend to kids.
