Gia Bianchi, the daughter of New York Senator Michael Bianchi, had left home, trying to avoid an arranged marriage by her father, when she ended up at a rental unit in Pine View. Responding to a fire alarm at the unit, Sergeant Troy Wilder and his brothers bump into Gia, who is clearly scared and hiding from something. They realize she is in grave danger when they see a card with the words "The Apex Society," a charity organization that is a front for Senator Bianchi’s criminal outfit, in her room. Troy decides to take Gia to his place to protect her. Soon, the two quickly fall head over heels for each other. However, just when Troy least expects it, the senator takes Gia away. Aware of the fate she faces, Troy must save her before it is too late. Find out more in Burn: Book 3 of the Apex Society Trilogy by Rhone Atleshen.

Lovers of romantic suspense and thrillers blended with drama will find Burn by Rhone Atleshen an enthralling read. The prose is contemporary, visceral, and intimate. A dynamic pace balances internal monologues with moments of tension and urgency. All this, alongside the sentimentally charged and intense conversations, gave me insight into the cast’s intricate emotions and complex traits, and made the romance feel grounded. The author does not shy away from eroticism or abuse, offering a sharp contrast of the two through vivid imagery. With circumstances standing in their way, yet both determined to beat the odds to be together, Troy and Gia’s love story unfolds in a drama that leaves readers wanting more. Gia displays how abuse scars its victims, shaping their beliefs, opinions, and even their personalities. She embodies the journey of healing and self-discovery. I highly recommend reading the previous installments in the Apex Society Trilogy series to fully enjoy this read.
