By Sea (A Paranormal Military Suspense Romance) (Supernatural Renegades Book 1) by Carly Fall is a romantic suspense novel that also has some paranormal and fantastical elements to it. Rayna Lopez works for the CIA and hopes they won't find out her secret: that her father is part of an infamous drug cartel. But then her father drags her into a plot to get her half-sister out of trouble, and Rayna finds herself on a yacht with hunky Brody Teller. Brody is an ex-marine with a supernatural gift that allows him to control the sea. Because of this gift, he now works for the mysterious Joe Smith and uses his gifts for good. As he fights to keep Rayna’s sister alive, Rayna wonders if she can trust him. She doesn't have many options, and she is starting to have feelings for Brody that are raging out of control. If they survive their terrifying voyage, they'll have to figure out what to do with their new, frightening feelings for one another.
I liked the supernatural elements to this story. They were a nice twist from traditional romantic suspense. I also really liked the action in the plot and how Brody was there to protect Rayna and her sister. There were a lot of good elements to this story. The setting and the fact that Brody got his powers from the sea were cool, too, because I think a lot of people like the sea and enjoy reading about it.
