In Bill Garwin’s Chasing Madison, when Madison James diverts thirty-two million dollars from Russian financier Vasily Popov through a law firm trust account tied to attorney Atticus Wright, she sets in motion a pursuit that stretches from Venice to the American Southwest. Popov forces Atticus to locate her, placing him alongside strategist Jules Bronsky as they trace Madison’s movements across Europe. In Las Vegas, a contract killing implicates illusionist Skye Duffy and widens the conflict, drawing law enforcement and criminal networks into the search. Motorcycle clubs mobilize across state lines while Popov deploys armed operatives to intercept Madison before she can disappear again. As alliances shift and surveillance tightens, Atticus and Jules must decide how far they will go to contain the damage tied to Madison’s theft while staying ahead of a financier determined to reclaim what he lost.

Bill Garwin’s Chasing Madison is a globe-spanning thriller that links financial betrayal and calculated survival across continents. The writing is sharp, intelligent, and completely immersive, and the action is pitch-perfect. Madison James is a spectacularly persuasive character, weaponizing both intelligence and intimacy. She is strategically cold and relentlessly ambitious, and easily the most fascinating character in the book. Garwin's visually rendered settings breathe life into everywhere feet touch the ground, from the Mercato di Mezzo in Bologna that funnels a chase and spills into Piazza Maggiore under circling drones, to the glitter mines of Las Vegas—a place near to my heart, as my wife lived there for over a decade—with its high limit blackjack rooms and the aging yet stalwart New York New York hotel. There are plenty of twists, and the novel ends with the door wide open for a sequel. I'm excited to see where Garwin may take us next. Recommended.

The Monarchs Motorcycle Club, headed by Bradley Range, takes over the Kansas City Mob after the sudden disappearance of their boss. Currently, Bradley is in Vegas to meet with Skye, who, along with her friends, has been instrumental in helping the club take over the mob's business. The meeting with Skye doesn’t happen, as Bradley is drugged and murdered in his hotel room after a night out gambling. Meanwhile, Atticus and Jules, who are Skye’s friends, are in Italy chasing after Madison. After endearing herself to Atticus, she had stolen from a Russian oligarch who wants the friends to get Madison and report to him. The friends decide to work with Madison and Luuk against the Russian oligarch when they finally get to Madison. How will it unfold in Chasing Madison by Bill Garwin?

Chasing Madison by Bill Garwin takes readers on a gripping journey filled with unexpected twists and turns. I loved the flashbacks, which kept me on my toes, and the well-utilized suspense, which kept me eagerly anticipating the events of subsequent chapters. The writing is crisp and engaging, filled with well-crafted dialogue that brings the story and its well-developed characters to life. This thought-provoking work also got me thinking about the importance of proper parenting and watching out for signs of psychopathy, which show up early, as we see in Popov. The narration was excellent, and the reader will also appreciate the easy-to-understand language used, which makes the work accessible to all audiences. This is a good book, and I look forward to reading something else by Bill Garwin.

Chasing Madison is a pulsating crime thriller by Bill Garwin. When Bradley Range is unexpectedly assassinated in Las Vegas, his business partner and magician Skye Duffy becomes the prime suspect. Skye has no choice but to leave Vegas with two cops on her trail and the Monarchs Motorcycle Club on the hunt for her. Meanwhile, Atticus Wright, a disbarred lawyer, and his friend, Jules Bronsky, a man with a photographic memory, follow the trail of Madison James all the way to Venice, Italy. Madison had stolen $32 million from an exiled Russian oligarch named Vasily Popov, putting Atticus and Jules in his debt. With Popov's kill teams hunting them, Atticus, Jules, Madison, and her friend Luuk flee to America and reunite with Skye. However, for Atticus and his friends, the danger is not yet over.

Fast-paced and full of unpredictable twists and turns, Chasing Madison takes you on a wild rollercoaster ride. It's a crime thriller with plenty of dark humor and action sequences. Bill Garwin's narrative feels like a cinematic read, with well-developed, dynamic characters who traverse various locations, all the way from America to Europe. The plot pulls you in from the very first page and keeps you enthralled until the last. Atticus, Jules, Skye, and Summer make a formidable team that outwits its foes against all odds. I also enjoyed Madison immensely. She is not a good person, but she is unintentionally hilarious and immensely entertaining. I found the ending very satisfying, although it leaves some room for a sequel. Overall, this is a treat for crime thriller readers.
