Chavez is the seventh book in the Jagged Edge Series by A.L. Long in which Gabrielle Jackson finds out that no matter how hard you try, life will find a way to surprise you. Gabrielle Jackson worked her hardest to be where she is today. Graduated at the top of her class and working her butt off turned out in her favor. However, when she got the opportunity to head an investigation, she had no idea that she would be tested beyond what she had prepared herself for all these years. Jagged Edge Security is brought in to assist and it turns out she has to watch herself around Michael Chavez. One steamy night turns the heat up for both of them and they can’t seem to resist each other. But during the investigation, they find something that connects to Gabrielle and it seems like no one believes her but Michael. Can these two put their chemistry aside and work together to close this case? Or will they explore whatever it is between them and let things unfold?
I love a good romance where the guy and the girl have sizzling chemistry and an urge to explore that. You don’t come across many novels like this where you get to enjoy the story and the romance as well. Chavez had action, thrill, mystery, suspense, and romance, all in a wonderful package that had me hooked from the very beginning. I enjoyed Gabrielle’s reactions, Michael’s sneaky ways to get her to accept him and the overall plot. There is a little something for everyone and I just loved it! The plot is well-paced, it is not a fast instant love and both Gabrielle and Michael are given ample opportunity to explore themselves before they explored their relationship. This is a wonderful novel, one that I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending to my friends.
