Chrystal and the Fairy by Emma Zhou is an adorable picture book for young children. One day, a young girl named Chrystal was playing at the park with her dog Scuby. As they were enjoying the beautiful sunshine, Chrystal heard a voice calling for help. Chrystal and Scuby walked over to a nearby tree and found a little fairy gasping for water. Without thinking, Chrystal immediately opened her water bottle and gave the fairy plenty to drink. As a thank you, the little fairy rewarded Chrystal with some chocolate, but not just any kind of chocolate; this was magical. I wonder what Chrystal will use her magical chocolate for. Will she just eat it? Find out in this book.
Chrystal and the Fairy was a pleasure to read. The book grabs your attention from the moment you begin reading and pulls you straight into the storyline within the first couple of pages. Not only is it entertaining, but it is also educational as it teaches children about kindness. This warmed my heart even more after I learned that the author, Emma Zhou, is a child herself. The story is well-written and simplified to enable children to read along with ease. The illustrations, also by the author, fit incredibly well into the book's theme, as well as being colorful and creative. Overall, I think Emma did an amazing job and I am confident that children will learn the important lesson she is trying to teach. Please continue to write more wonderful stories, Emma. I hope to see more from you soon.
