Cara Moeller Poppitt’s Big Freakin’ Change is a self-development book about why women can spend years waiting to feel ready for a major life decision. The author begins with the idea that readiness has been misunderstood. Instead of appearing before someone makes a move, it develops after she begins. That reversal becomes the basis of the book, following a woman who knows she wants something different but has not yet acted as she works out what has kept her standing still. The Get Unstuck, Cycle of Change Model gives her a route from recognizing that her current life no longer fits to making the first move toward something new. The book ultimately argues that a new direction begins when a person stops waiting for certainty and starts trusting what she already knows she wants.

Cara Moeller Poppitt’s Big Freakin’ Change is a fantastic self-development book with usable advice that turns a vague desire for change into something a woman can put to use. The writing has a conversational quality that places each lesson in a situation readers can picture, giving the guidance a real sense of possibility. Courtney’s trip to Macy’s shows exactly how effective that approach can be. She buys clothes for the body she has that day, including a red dress she wears when accepting a business leadership award. Her advice has that same usefulness in working life. Wilma, an administrative assistant preparing to start her own business, tells her boss about the new venture, offering to retain his company as a client at higher fees. There is real value in advice a reader can take into her own life. Readers ready for a fresh start will find plenty here worth using. Very highly recommended.
