Cut to the Quick: The Clandestine Book 3 is the third book in The Clandestine series by Russell Isler. After defeating the powerful vampire Rebecca Weir, Edward "Eddy" Fry is the de facto vampire king of Las Vegas and owns the Golden Fortune Casino Resort on the Center Strip. However, Eddy soon lands himself in trouble when he refuses the Yakuza and suddenly finds himself captured by three teenagers with their own plans. But circumstances force Eddy to team up with those three young men, alongside his Clandestine allies, Xenia and Shizue, while being chased by El Brujo and his cartel. El Brujo wants the Sovereign, and he will not let anyone stand in his way. Meanwhile, Eddy finds an unexpected ally who could just as quickly turn on him and his friends.
Cut to the Quick rarely lets you take a breather and is packed to the brim with action and humor. You never know what to expect from this book. Some of the dialogue is hilarious, and every chapter has its share of thrilling action sequences. The narrative follows two separate timelines in the protagonist's life. Author Russell Isler drops you in the midst of the action from the get-go, and it's a non-stop rollercoaster from there until the end. The twists and turns are really unpredictable, and because the plot moves at such a brisk pace, it's hard to put the book down before finishing it. Eddy is full of charisma and wit. Xenia and Shizue are a dynamic duo you will love to root for. If you enjoy action-packed supernatural thrillers, you will have a blast with this book!
