Deadly Deception by Karen Black takes the tried and tested genres of detective and murder mystery and adds a healthy dose of romance. The author uses her characters in the most exciting and realistic ways as the story unfolds. The main characters are Officers Freeman and Doug Atwater, Detective Sergeant Michael William (Mike), and Detective Kate Flanagan (Katherine). These characters weave a very realistic picture of their lives through the plot as it unfolds. The narrative keeps the reader glued to the book to discover what is happening, how something like this could happen, and who would let it happen.

Deadly Deception by Karen Black is very down to earth and has the reader believing that they could meet these characters in everyday life without losing the plot's credibility or making this just another detective story. The author holds the reader’s attention from the opening paragraph to the twist in the tale at the end, which is very much an unexpected conclusion. It is a book that will inspire new readers to keep reading as well as seasoned readers to pick it up more than once as there is so much in the story and with each read something new is discovered. It has a little bit of something for everyone. It will hold the reader's attention so that they find they have to keep turning the pages until the end. This is a book well worth your time. The main characters are so true to life that the reader will feel that they have actually met them somewhere before. Thank you, Karen, for a most delightful and intriguing book. I really enjoyed it.
