Many readers may feel uncertain about the future but lack the tools to move forward. Suneet Bhatt shines a light on the path in Making Sense of Purpose: How to Gain Clarity, Build Momentum, and Find Your Kiran (a ray of light). Readers will be guided to understand themselves and stop chasing approval from others. This will enable them to move forward with meaning and momentum, while embracing grace. This requires time and effort. Reflection should be undertaken without self-judgment. In the process, they will cultivate self-awareness and develop a sense of direction. The author notes that our sense of purpose changes as we evolve. Readers are encouraged to uncover their strengths. A comprehensive list provides guidance, as well as how to use them correctly. Values are best aligned with goals to balance expectations, aspirations, and dreams. In addition, we should learn to forgive, starting with ourselves. We should also build confidence and practice compassion. The author reflects that adulthood can blunt creativity, as we become weighed down by our burdens, imposed both from within and without. As a result, we can fail to reach our potential, but we are all unique, and our voices deserve to be heard.
In Making Sense of Purpose, Suneet Bhatt examines what constitutes happiness and suggests ways to find clarity and forge a new path. The word “kiran” embodies light, hope, and energy and was also the name of the author’s father, who provided support and inspiration. We are in a constant state of change, but should aim for convergence, a point where clarity, patterns, and momentum come together. What sets this book apart from conventional goal-oriented self-help books is that it invites deeper reflection to first understand the self before finding answers within. The text is particularly well structured to achieve this. Chapters have guiding prompts, backed by research, and examples taken from real-life situations. The author presents advice that is both clear and practical. He includes lyrics from songs and quotes by musicians, plus links to a playlist and workbooks. It will provide a guiding light for readers and is highly recommended.
