Deadly Dominoes by Linda Pirtle is a murder mystery novel that would appeal most to a mixed audience of young adults and adults who enjoy sleuthing stories and murder mysteries. Bill and Lillian Prestridge decide it is time for a relaxing RV vacation, yet their first stop at Caddo Lake in the Cypress basin of Texas throws the relaxing part right out the window. Lillian’s curiosity for solving the unknown causes her to be drawn into a deadly mystery of murders and dominoes. Does Lillian have what it takes to solve the mystery or will the murders become cold cases destined to never be solved?

Deadly Dominoes by Linda Pirtle is an intriguing mystery filled with twists and turns that kept me from guessing the motive and identity of the killer(s). Lillian Prestridge quickly became my favorite character, as she was a strong female character who was able and willing to fight for what she wants, yet at the same time she was not so proud as to refuse help. I often find strong female characters to be boring because of how they can be so determined to prove their strength that they refuse help due to their pride; I was so happy that this was not the case with Lillian. My favorite part of the book was the moment the first domino was found as that was the 'aha' moment where I understood the reason behind the title. Overall, I have to say I was surprised by how easy it was to find myself drawn into the mystery at Caddo Lake, and I really hope that the author decides to write more books with Lillian Prestridge!
