In Diners, Dives & Drive-Bys, David Korson and Nicole Korson introduce the main character, Holly Harkins. She is a small-town bookstore clerk whose life is flipped upside down when a TV production crew arrives to film a Food Channel special in Walnut Falls, Ohio. Holly possesses a rare gift: numerical mnemonic memory. She can remember extremely long number sequences with just one glance. Holly prefers a quiet life among books and cats, but somehow chaos finds her. A celebrity chef ends up being stabbed in her store, pulling her into a mystery that blurs the lines between reality and fiction. Between meeting quirky townspeople, a nosy boss, and the charming barista, Samuel, Holly’s world spirals into a mix of humor and danger, but she also discovers some things about herself. With each clue that unravels, she must come to grips with the truth behind the crime and parts of herself she wants to keep hidden.

With a blend of warmth and wit, authors David Korson and Nicole Korson have crafted a wonderful tale that has both funny moments and heartfelt ones. The dialogue sparkled, and the pacing never dragged. Holly felt like someone you’d want as a friend with her cleverness, courage, and cautiousness. Her connection with Samuel helped ground the story amid the chaos. The small-town setting felt alive, filled with both gossip and charm. The mystery was crafted so well that it kept me guessing. Fans who enjoyed similar works like Ellie Alexander’s Bakeshop Mysteries or Mia P. Manansala’s Arsenic and Adobo will enjoy Diners, Dives & Drive-Bys.
