In Dismantling Vindictiveness by Lillian R. Melendez, Christopher Parker tries to uncover the mysterious attacks targeting his staff in his architectural firm amidst a devastating recession. Despite the economic downturn happening around the country, Christopher is convinced that his firm is stable. But recent attacks on key members of his staff and the tampering of employees’ funds have the C.E.O on edge. As he tries to find the culprits behind the attacks, he struggles with health issues that could turn fatal. In addition, he has to revisit a long-standing feud while hoping to make amends with those he hurt in the past. Not knowing who to trust and mistrusted by those close to him, Christopher must unravel the mysteries before it is too late.
The setting in Dismantling Vindictiveness by Lillian R. Melendez, which includes a daunting economic downturn, sets the stage for the turmoil in Christopher’s firm. Other events such as the attacks on different characters and Christopher’s health struggles add to the tension in the plot. I also liked that the story involves a believable main character who has to face the present and acknowledge his past mistakes. He also has enemies as someone on the inside of his firm is set on tarnishing his name. The story is centered on a few characters who are connected through friendship or family ties, which makes it easy to follow the story. Dismantling Vindictiveness by Lillian R. Melendez is a captivating mystery novel that includes several conflicts set in an uncertain economic environment.
