Don't Forget To Feel Special! Prelude to The Wackenteach Series is a children's educational concept book written by J.C.M. The first day of kindergarten is a pretty special event, and the children who will be going to Pagic Elementary School are in for a big treat. Most of them have asked their parents what kindergarten is like, and the moms and dads all have just about the same answer: kindergarten is a special and magical place. Some dads said how lucky their kids were and wished they were going to kindergarten instead of work, and some parents mentioned the mysterious Mr. Wackenteach and the glowing mystery. As the children were going to bed, they were filled with excitement and anticipation about the next day. In the morning, they were ready for school, and it seemed like Miss Friendly was ready and waiting as well. She had set up a tea party for the children and their parents. Afterwards, there were all sorts of fun activities for the children to get involved in. Just before they were to be dismissed, Miss Friendly asked them all to be seated at their desks because someone special was coming to see them. It was Mr. Wackenteach. He was all dressed in black with a tall top hat, and he was carrying a yardstick. An air of mystery seemed to hang over him as he entered the room.

J.C.M.'s educational concept book for children, Don't Forget To Feel Special! is the introductory book in the Wackenteach Series. The author adroitly builds up an atmosphere of mystery and magic as the children prepare for their first day in kindergarten. I loved the positive and joyful presentation of this work. Each child is told how special and magical kindergarten is, and how special he/she is as well. This book goes so far to allay children's fears about school, especially those who have never been to daycare or another group setting. It also assures them that they won't have to worry about being overlooked or not being good enough, but, rather, that they are special. The illustrations for Don't Forget to Feel Special! are brightly colored and cheerful, and they add to the joyful, almost celebratory feeling that pervades the text. This is the perfect introductory book for children who are about to embark on their academic voyage, and it works so very well. Don't Forget to Feel Special! is most highly recommended.
