Doppelganger is a work of fiction in the supernatural, thriller, and suspense subgenres. It is intended for the young adult reading audience. Penned by author Kerry ONeal, this bold and interesting work explores the concept of the doppelganger, a term coined by German writers to describe a person's double or twin. In German folklore, doppelgangers are believed to be invisible spirit doubles of living beings, distinct from ghosts and often considered harbingers of bad luck or evil. Mythology and fiction depict doppelgangers as paranormal entities or evil twins, contributing to their association with negative events or possessions. Interestingly, scientists suggest that statistically, each person may have up to six doppelgangers worldwide, highlighting the eerie notion that there are potentially seven people with identical faces in existence.

Author Kerry ONeal has crafted a truly thought-provoking exploration of a fascinating and eerie phenomenon that permeates folklore, mythology, and fiction. I loved the in-depth work on the intricacies of the doppelganger concept, weaving together historical perspectives, cultural beliefs, and scientific insights to create a captivating narrative that smacks true of all that we fear in the dark recesses of our minds. The book's exploration of doppelgangers offers a nuanced understanding of their role in shaping human perceptions and fears, and this translates directly to the character's psychology and informs every action, word, and thought so wonderfully. As I delved deeper into the pages, I found myself deeply invested in the fate of the cast and the terrifying and confusing challenges that waited around every corner for them. Overall, Doppelganger is a compelling read that sheds light on a mysterious and intriguing aspect of human existence, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to teen and adult readers alike.
