Escaping Skeletons is the second novel in the Chessie Parton, Archeologist, Mysteries Series by DL Havlin. Chessie Parton had no idea what “Operation Paperclip” was until she was assigned a new task with her team to go to Argentina and uncover some truths that were buried a long time ago. They believe they are there to perform an excavation on multiple sites; however, they soon find out that what they have on hands is nothing they could have expected ... even in their wildest dreams. It turned out to be a Nazi compound with so many skeletons of the past that Chessie and her team could not contain it, even if they tried. However, when Chessie and her team encountered a secret too big to contain, she just knew that no one would be safe until they did something about it. This is a secret that could lead to her team vanishing from the face of the earth and no one would even know about it. What is Chessie going to do now? Can she save the secret and her team in time or will they all be exposed?

Wow, this was a heavily detailed, fast-paced novel that had me on the edge of my seat. I literally read the whole novel in a couple of hours and I loved every minute. The narrative was very powerful; the story was well-thought-out and the characters well-rounded to make this a great action/mystery to read. The author trod very carefully over certain parts, being respectful and tactful to offer a story that was at once entertaining and believable. The flow was fantastic, the climax was impressive and the overall atmosphere gave me goosebumps. This is a brilliant novel, one that I will be rereading soon.
