Our story began with Hailey slowly returning to consciousness. Her mind attempted to assembler the pieces of the puzzle. Who was the man who sat on the edge of her bed? Her mind moved back three days in time.

Hailey and Delaney worked hard to build their antique business. In a very short time Dwayne Anderson had destroyed it all. Revenge was all Hailey had on her mind as she dressed to the nines and arrived at a Christmas Party in a stretched limo. She wasn’t used to seeing herself in heels and make up and felt a bit ridiculous. Michael Patrick Roark noticed her as soon as she walked into the room. There was an instant connection between Hailey and Roark and yet she wasn’t sure she could trust him. Was he trying to help her or kill her? Who was Dustin and why was he referred to as the devil? Where was Delaney?

I’m trying very carefully not to give too much away. The plot is very intricate. This is not a quick read, it is one you will want to savor. Faithful Deception is a suspense filled read. From the prologue the reader is quickly drawn in to the plot seeking the answer to Hailey’s questions. The story is told through Hailey’s perspective. The tension builds with each new scene. Shivers ran up my spine as I read the scene where Hailey was in her apartment; her nerves were on edge from the party. She found the cat locked in the closet and then discovers her front door open. Could someone have been in the apartment with her? Someone had turned off lights she had left on. Who left a single red rose on the coffee table? The questions just keep building.

Drugs, murder, white slavery, an FBI operation and more await the reader in this book. I enjoyed this read. The twists and turns kept me eagerly turning the pages as I wondered what would happen next. Hailey is a very strong female lead. She is not a shrinking violet. Patrick and Hailey work well together. The villains, Dustin and Dwayne, are bad all the way through. Melissa Ohnoutka is a master at building suspense and keeping the reader on edge. Don’t read this one late at night when you are alone!
