If you’re currently on the hunt for your next paranormal romance fix, then this can be found in the form of Family Again: Book of Origins, Volume Two by Alyse Nennig. This installment continues the journey of vampire hunter Hannah Jacob who finds herself married to vampire John Trott and pregnant with his child. After being captured by the original vampire Vlad, Hannah must make sense of prophetic dreams to try to understand the truth of his history and why the Council has such a different version of events.

Family Again was a thrilling ride from beginning to end, with the constant threat of danger that flows from high stakes, soaring emotions, and steamy encounters between the characters. Alyse Nennig’s storytelling uses every sentence to build the drama with masterful timing of tension and release that leads to an unforgettable tale of dark romance that will keep readers hooked. I particularly enjoyed the depth and nuances of Hannah’s characterization throughout her journey. By the end of it, she felt as fully realized as an actual breathing person, and the investment that readers make in her only serves to raise the dramatic stakes even further. Family Again explores some fascinating themes concerning destiny and truth and left me looking forward to whatever comes next in the series. A seductive roller coaster of a romantic thriller, I recommend this book to all fans of the genre.

Family Again has several surprises for you. Hannah Jacobs, a vampire hunter, is now married to blood-born vampire John Trott and pregnant with his child. In addition, she learns that her mother, whom she thought was dead, is a vampire, and she receives even more infuriating news about another family member she is only now learning about. Hannah is also having nightmares about John's dark secrets, which portray a hostile and violent side that he wishes to keep hidden. Finally, torn from her beloved and forced to live as a prisoner in Vlad's castle, Hannah encounters a completely surprising side of Vlad. Is there a chance for peace in the secret-filled and politically divided world Hannah finds herself in? Alyse Nennig's Family Again is a gripping and character-rich narrative involving vampires, humans, and witches that disclose astounding secrets as you explore deeper.

The complex, believable characters depict the reality of embodying both good and evil. As the novel unfolds, the ostensibly villainous individuals disclose some redeeming characteristics, while the decent characters reveal some dark, ugly truths. This serves as an excellent reminder not to judge a book by its cover or to think that one individual might have only positive or negative qualities. As a music lover, my favorite aspect of the book is that it has various song lyrics and includes the names of singers like Flo Rida, Ellie Goulding, and Usher. Fans of Teen Werewolf and The Vampire Diaries will like Family Again since it features love, strong bonds, and supernatural beings. You will feel drawn to its nuanced and expressive characters, as well as to the musical and supernatural atmosphere. When it comes to romantic vampire stories, Alyse Nennig's novel is unrivaled!

Family Again is the second novel in the Book of Origins series by Alyse Nennig. A vampire and a vampire hunter should never work, but somehow Hannah and John made it work. They might have fallen in love too fast, but they loved each other dearly. Now married and expecting a baby, John never thought he would have a family once again; now he had everything he ever wished for. However, Hannah found out that her mother was not dead but was a vampire. And since trouble comes in pairs, Hannah started to have vivid dreams in which she was a captive of Vlad, the first vampire. The more she saw Vlad in her dreams, the more she sympathized with him. If Hannah was careful, Vlad could be the key to all her woes and reveal secrets about Hannah’s past that she wasn’t aware of. One right step and Hannah and John could have everything or a wrong step may destroy it all.

I love romance, but I love romance novels with suspense and secrets more. I loved the fact that John and Hannah were in love, yet they didn’t let that love dictate their whole personalities. I saw sparks of fierceness from Hannah and gentle stability from John. If one was fire, the other was water. They complemented each other yet they provided enough support all the time. The mystery behind Vlad, his connection to Hannah, and the reason why he was appearing in her dreams was such a unique idea. It could have gone horribly wrong, but Alyse Nennig executed the concept perfectly. The narrative was so convincing that even I was second-guessing if Vlad was as bad as he was portrayed. The dialogues were rich and fun, they revealed so much about the character and their little quirks. I was thoroughly entertained until the very end of Family Again!
