Author Biography

Susan calls McNairy County, TN her home ground even though she has moved away. It was here, at Bethel Springs Junior High School that she began her writing career with two friends. They formed their own little writers group that was so secret they were the only ones who knew it existed. She still has some of the stories they wrote carefully preserved in a loose leaf binder and tucked away for safety.

She has worked in retail management, briefly for the Census Bureau and for many years in the investment/insurance industry in the regulatory compliance arena. All of which are left brain activities. So she exercises her right brain activity with reading and writing…just to keep both sides even.

Reading has been a passion since she was very young. As a toddler, her mother read to her from her 'baby books' and her Mother tells a story about her holding one of them upsidedown and 'reading' by repeating the story verbatim from memory.

Susan is a multi-genre hybrid author. Her first novel, Kate's Pride, is a historical women's fiction set in West Tennessee in the aftermath of the Civil War. The novel is loosely based on her own Great Grandmother and published under the pen name Renee Russell.

Her second novel, Fated Love, is a contemporary paranormal romantic suspense (with a twist of paranormal) set in Memphis, TN.

Life got in the way of writing for many years but now she's come back to her early love.

Fated Love is a romance novel written by Susan Boles. Young artist Sarah Cameron is absolutely devastated when her art gallery burns to the ground. After losing her family in a car accident caused by a hit-and-run one year earlier, Sarah had painted their portraits and hung them at the gallery. When arson is discovered as the cause of the fire, with business partner, Isaiah Morton, and herself as the main suspects, Sarah thinks that things couldn’t be worse. As the investigator, Jake Riordan, digs deeper into who had motive to set fire to the art gallery, he also realizes that he is falling in love with Sarah. Jake needs to ensure that no bias enters into the investigation and does his best to leave his feelings at the door. When Sarah’s life is suddenly in danger after being stalked, and an attempt is made on her life, Jake discovers that the family accountant, Neil Phillips, is not the man he has claimed to be. After Neil unexpectedly declares his undying love for Sarah, he becomes the prime suspect in more than just the arson, turning Sarah’s world upside down.

From the very first page, the action starts and does not even come close to slowing down until the book’s end. Fated Love is a tale of mutual, yet forbidden attraction which comes close to derailing an investigation that ends up spanning across many miles and several years. I enjoyed the chemistry between Sarah and Jake, even though she had done nothing to seduce him. The underlying mystery is what keeps Fated Love moving forward to its eventual amazing climax at the end. On many occasions throughout the book, there seemed to be ten more questions arising when one question was answered, but Susan Boles handled the entire storyline with style and pizzazz. I recommend Fated Love to mature readers who enjoy their romance doused in mystery, drama and suspense.
