Following Your North Star by Michelle Donice is a self-help book aimed at helping you rediscover yourself, your purpose, joy, and God's plan for your life. Donice shares stories of personal relationships that deeply affected her, including the trauma of being born an illegitimate child, an absent father, abusive romantic relationships, workplace bullying, and malicious friends. Through a story of forgiveness that includes disappointments, heartbreak, and trauma, she details her life's unexpected paths, the lessons she learned, and how she developed the tools to turn sorrow into joy. Donice shares invaluable wisdom, reflective questions, and daily exercises or techniques that will help others find a place of peace and happiness in life.

Following Your North Star by Michelle Donice is an absorbing and powerful account of her life of traumas and challenges, plus overcoming them with grace and gratitude. Donice's vulnerability in sharing intimate details makes the book relatable and a fantastic resource for those struggling to overcome similar challenges. I enjoyed the part about leaving the margins blank, leaving space for yourself and your priorities in life. As a to-do list person, I loved her technique of reconstructing the list in terms of your ten most critical roles and what you value about them, before selecting a task that fits those values – an eye-opener for me. Following Your North Star is a beautifully written book, and the author's authentic, passionate, and caring voice comes through strongly. I am left feeling inspired by the helpful spiritual advice.
