From Sorrow to Amazing Grace: One Cop's Journey by Keith R. Knotek is the author's story of being an alcoholic in recovery, husband, father, son, friend, child of God, and a retired police officer. The memoir gives glimpses of his life which have been a series of ups and downs, and how the emotional scars inflicted upon him went unchecked and unaddressed for a long time. His story is that of pride, selfishness, brokenness, forgiveness, redemption, hope, faith, belief, strength, perseverance, and redemption through Jesus Christ. This memoir is all about hope and giving readers the confidence and courage to face their future, and his words show how with God's support everything is possible.

From Sorrow to Amazing Grace is honest and straightforward. He throws light on living in a safe environment growing up and how he was keen to be in law enforcement. He captures his struggles, stress, and his PTSD, and what is admirable is the way he overcame his struggles and difficulties by putting complete faith in Jesus Christ. I enjoyed reading this book and the author's honesty. It takes a lot of strength to come out in the open and speak about one's alcoholism, alcohol-induced escapades, and PTSD, and many readers undergoing similar challenges will easily relate to his words. This book is a good way to understand the life of a police officer and healing from Jesus Christ.

"From Sorrow to Amazing Grace: One Cop's Journey" is a must-read for police officers and non-police officers, alike. This is a very thorough and detailed story of retired Officer Keith Knotek's amazing journey — from childhood to his retirement. The author is candid. This enlightening story is thought-provoking and true-to-life. It also gives a very detailed behind-the-scenes look at what police officers go through on a day-to-day basis. There are numerous important messages in this book. Officer Knotek experiences many ups and downs in life, however, it is God, who pulls him through — with love, grace and mercy — that only He can give. I highly-recommend this book!

I think anyone who has spent any amount of time in law enforcement can find a little bit of the author in themselves. The words in this book moved me to the point of me wanting to make some positive lifestyle changes. A great read!

The writer did an awesome job of relating his experiences to the reader and how God's healing power transformed him. It was a very honest and transparent testimony of His redeeming grace. Two thumbs up!

My husband is a veteran of the war in Iraq/Afghanistan and a police officer. He has had issues with some of the things he's seen and dealt with over the years. I wanted to read this book before I gave it to him to read for himself and it did not disappoint. "From Sorrow To Amazing Grace" is so relatable to some things my husband has gone through and is a good resource for how to work through some of these issues. I recommend it to any veteran or first responder!

Keith Knotek's, From Sorrow to Amazing Grace is a personal glimpse into the very realistic and emotional job of someone who dedicates their life to protecting their community, a peace officer. In a time where so many are expressing a mostly negative view of police officers, this book gives the ordinary civilian a behind the scenes look at the split second decisions, stress, and death a officer deals with on a daily basis. The book is a real life story of how Amazing Grace steps in to save us when we can't save ourselves.

Most inspiring. A banner of hope for others who find themselves in similar situations. I am in awe of the author's candor and willingness to share his story so that others may find help. People should read this and have their eyes open to what our first responders go through on a regular basis.
