Gemini Ascending: Tempting Eternity is yet another enthralling installment from Mark John Terranova's Gemini Ascending series. James Montgomery, an immortal, feels the need to take the next step in his evolution. To keep his family safe, James relocates to Penang, Malaysia, alongside his wife, SuiLeng, and their two sons. However, enemies are never far behind as James and SuiLeng's brother, Winston, find themselves attacked by vicious King Cobras while James initiates his first stage of the transmogrification process. Meanwhile, under Katherine Duhring's supervision, Dr. Peter Amello continues his efforts to unlock John Parella, Jr.'s mind. Pulling the strings from shadows is the enigmatic Dr. Adolphus Junger. As he delves further into the mysteries of the universe, lives will be changed forever.
Containing an intricate plot with a large cast of POV characters, Gemini Ascending: Tempting Eternity is a wildly imaginative journey that gives a lot to ponder whilst being entertaining all the way through. The plot moves at a brisk pace which, at times, may threaten to overwhelm, but author Mark John Terranova's timely and much-needed expository scenes make it accessible and easier to navigate. The characters have well-developed arcs, but their primary function is to move the plot forward and explore the underlying themes that the narrative is interested in. Despite being a sequel, Gemini Ascending: Tempting Eternity also works seamlessly as a standalone novel. I had an absolute blast reading it.
