Author Biography

D. Hollis Anderson writes books for curious minds who love to imagine 'what if?' If you went to Battle School as a kid with Ender Wiggin; if you've always wanted a lightsaber; if you’ve become best friends with the likes of Samwise Gamgee or Ron Weasley, then you'll love his books.

Genesis Echo (Book 1) by D. Hollis Anderson is an exhilarating young adult sci-fi adventure that thrusts readers into a dystopian universe ruled by the oppressive Grey Empire. Hidden away on Earth, Rain believes herself to be an ordinary girl until she discovers she was born on another planet and is being hunted across the cosmos. As she unravels the terrifying truth about humanity’s imprisonment, she must navigate a world where every war, disaster, and disease is manufactured for alien entertainment. Meanwhile, across the galaxy, two others - Lor, a girl with mysterious powers, and Tonjin, an elite warrior - face their own battles against the Empire’s cruel domination. As their fates intertwine, they embark on a high-stakes mission to reclaim freedom for their people.

Author D. Hollis Anderson has a knack for blending detailed world-building naturally into the storytelling, and this makes for a thrilling, fast-paced sci-fi adventure that never suffers in its pacing. It was a great way to learn about the universe from Rain’s discoveries, and YA readers are sure to relate to her and wonder if they would react the same way to the incredible situations she finds herself in. These are described on a cinematic, epic scale with an exciting but dangerous atmosphere in a tale of rebellion, identity, and the fight for freedom that is still grounded in the reality and personality of the central heroes. I loved the alien aspect and how realistic it was; it was entertaining but never laughable. There is genuine danger and suspense as this thought-provoking sci-fi saga keeps you on the edge of your seat until a satisfying conclusion. Overall, Genesis Echo is a fantastic series opener that I highly recommend to YA sci-fi fans, and I can’t wait for more from this series.
