Given A Second Chance has it all: murder, mystery, suspense, romance, and a troubled spirit. This is a long book but one that is hard to put down; it captured my attention right from the very beginning and kept me glued to the pages to find out what happens next.
Jessi and her two best friends chipped in and bought a lottery ticket and won. They opened a bed and breakfast in the country along with a boutique shop just like they had always dreamed of. Jessi was slowly getting her life back together after a divorce, which left her to raise her two daughters alone. Visiting her parents one weekend, she had a horrible dream in which she witnessed a murder taking place at an old farmhouse. On their way home a severe storm forced Jessi and her daughters to spend the night in an abandoned farmhouse. While there, she recognized the house as the one in her dreams. The spirit of the murdered man, Craig, appeared to her and asked her to help him find out why he was killed.
Detective Alex Storm, Craig's uncle, came to the Inn. So did the killer, who is back and determined to kill again; only this time to get the had one he intended to kill when he got Craig by mistake.
I enjoyed this story immensely. The author has combined thriller, suspense, romance and paranormal undertones to provide readers with an excellent novel. The plot reminded me of one of my favorite movies, Ghost.
