In "Grandma, You Rock!" author Karen O'Connor gives the reader short stories about grandparenting which then lead to a reflection on everyday life as a practicing Christian. No matter what the religion of the reader is, the stories are absolutely delightful! They deal with topics such as grandparents being "over the hill" and grandparents being out of touch with the latest technology, topics to which most grandparents can relate. 'Healthy Living', 'Missing Mommy' and cute child sayings called 'Tongue Trippers' will also delight the reader. So many of the stories will bring back memories tucked back deep in the mind of the reader.

While some of the stories appeared to be a bit of a stretch in representing the Biblical verse, the author's own reflections were heartwarming. I particularly loved the one at the end of the story 'Heaven Please Wait,' in which the author says: "Lord, thank you for letting heaven wait - so I can finish doing my job as a grandparent." Such wisdom must certainly come from years of observing, understanding and loving the precious children who come into your life. Each and every story represents a blessing from a child to his or her own grandparent. The author challenges each and every grandparent to look beyond his or her own fears and limitations to see what is offered each and every time a grandchild is entrusted to the care of a grandparent. Most readers will complete the book believing that in spite of the tough life lessons thrust upon them, they are surely blessed to have grandchildren in their lives.
