“The flower that follows the sun does so even on cloudy days.” – Robert Leighton. Grudges, Goldenrods, and Ghosts, Volume 3 is from the Petal Pushers Mystery Series by Tina D.C. Hayes. Darci Shelton finds an old key buried in the cellar of her flower shop. It belonged to Miss Addie, the previous occupant turned resident ghost. The key opens a safety deposit box containing a shocking letter from Miss Addie about a murder. Darci and her cousin Charlotte notice objects in the wrong locations, messages on the computer, and the parrot’s agitation whenever the presence of an unknown spirit is around. Someone does not want that information revealed and shows it in the most menacing ways. Their concern increases when stores are vandalized and they fear Petal Pushers may be next.
You will probably need to have snacks nearby while reading this amusing cozy mystery since doughnuts and Pumpkin Spice Fudge are a couple of sweets that Darci and Charlotte are fond of eating. Tina D.C. Hayes includes a few interesting recipes for food mentioned, as well as plant profiles with care instructions, their medicinal uses, and trivia. Grudges, Goldenrods, and Ghosts is a pleasant, light-hearted mystery. Most of the suspenseful story events take place at Petal Pushers where there is never a dull moment. I liked the warm, realistic and homely setting the author created and the witty characters. The story is short, but well developed. Grudges, Goldenrods, and Ghosts, Volume 3 (Petal Pushers Mystery Series) is recommended.
