Never heard of author John Gilstrap? If you pick up his latest thriller High Treason, you'll never forget the name. Gilstrap positions his hero Jonathan Grave and his partner, Big Guy, against the power of the USA and the Canadian government. When the President's wife disappears and her son and grandson are kidnapped, Jonathan pulls out all the stops, concocting a tale that rivets the reader to every page. With computer whiz Venice, the search and rescue team of Jonathan and Big Guy are ready to take on every individual, gang, and agency that threaten the safety of the good guys. When you throw in a Director who moves people like chess pawns and a former Special Forces guy named Striker, you have the mix for a story you simply cannot put down.
Gilstrap knows his ammunition and explosives, but the fascinating thing about this writer is his uncanny ability to put these aggressive, death-seeking weapons in the hands of individuals who simply want the good guys to come out ahead. Their hearts and souls are exposed to the raw core and then those very hearts develop cores of steel at just the right time. The characters of Jonathan and Big Guy are sensational. They use every ounce of their strength to outwit the best in the world. To call High Treason fast-paced is a true understatement because it moves at the speed of light as it unravels information which leads to a conclusion that will tear at the mind and logic of the most sophisticated reader.
