Honeysuckle Blue Revenge is a work of fiction in the mystery and suspense sub-genres and was penned by author Connie Chappell. Written as the fourth novel in the Wrenn Grayson Mystery series, this new adventure sees Wrenn deeply embroiled in the intricacies, history, and deadly plotting of the Honeysuckle Blue Nursery after she is invited to write up its history. Dark tales spanning fifty years of the past weave into the dangerous modern-day plot, and when Wrenn discovers a gravestone with her own name on it, a fearful race against time develops as she struggles to find out who’s behind the plot before it claims her.
Author Connie Chappell has crafted an excellent and highly engrossing mystery novel that hits all the right targets for cozy readers to enjoy. I loved the setting amongst the nursery and the plants, which leaves plenty of room for poison and intrigue both in the past and present of the tale. The narrative style is smooth and clear to give readers all the information they need to try to solve the mystery alongside Wrenn Grayson, and the development of the leading lady herself portrays her as an affable and capable investigator. What results is a well-paced and very well written mystery that is accessible for one and all to follow, guess at, and enjoy. Overall, I would highly recommend Honeysuckle Blue Revenge to readers seeking a new cozy mystery with plenty of surprises and a thrilling race to its conclusion.
