In a great second book in the planned Hyde's Corner Trilogy, In the Name of Vengeance by author J.B. Bergstad will grab readers from the very start and keep them obsessively reading straight through until the end, determined to find out what happens. The story of Selmer Burks, a man grieving the loss of his only child, and focused on getting revenge on those who caused his loss continues. Along with his good friend, Doctor Beaman, and his newborn illegitimate grandson, Thomas, Selmer plans the destruction of the evil Hyde family. Thomas ends up being his grandfather's salvation, and they build a bond like no other. But as he grows up, he begins to question his grandfather's murderous temper more and more, and worries about his dependence on alcohol to deal with his emotions. Will Thomas be able to get through to his grandfather on a whole new level? You'll need to read the book to find out!
I very much enjoyed In the Name of Vengeance. Author J.B. Bergstad has done a great job in creating characters that his readers will be able to relate to, connect with, and come to care about. If that isn't a hallmark of a great author, I'm not sure what is. The story is adventurous, exciting, and emotional all at once. Any reader who enjoys a great work of historical fiction, or someone who is just looking for a good work of fiction in general should absolutely read this book. I am so pleased to recommend In the Name of Vengeance, and look forward to reading more from the talented author, J.B. Bergstad, as soon as I possibly can!
