I Can Dress Myself! by Terri Kelley is a delightful story on the growing up stages of children and the kind of joy it gives to them and their parents. In this story, we see a young girl who decides to dress herself. She chooses what she has to wear and decides on her look. When she is dressed, her mother is surprised to see her choice of clothes and the way she has dressed. The book speaks of love, bonding, growing up, and the understanding of parents while the kids are growing up. The endearing theme and the colorful illustrations make this book an attractive read for children.
I am a great fan of Terri Kelley's children's story books because every story has a simple message that she conveys so effectively. They are all simple messages but relevant in the early stages of their lives while they are growing up. All her books, including this one, have bright and colorful illustrations which are eye catching. They give movement, life, and color to the story. The stages a child goes through in becoming independent is captured beautifully.
This story of love and bonding and also companionship and understanding will warm the hearts of young readers and parents. It is not only a good bedtime story book, but can also be used in read-aloud sessions in classrooms and libraries. It is always important to have a concept or a message for children in their story books because they can understand it easily. Like any other Terri Kelley story book, this is a perfect story book for kids.
