Carole P. Roman is back with the If You Were Me and Lived in… series. Join me as we take an adventure into the wondrous world of Egypt. In Volume 16, Carole shows us what life would be like If You Were Me and Lived in... Egypt: A Child's Introduction to Cultures Around the World. Did you know that Egypt is positioned between two countries, Africa and Asia? Because of this fact, it is a transcontinental country. Egypt, also known as the cradle of civilization, is responsible for the architecture, math, construction and writing that is being used today. In this book, children will learn about the Great Sphinx, the famous pyramids and the ancient kings and queens that ruled great empires. The glossary in this book adds a special touch to the educational experience that children will learn and enjoy as they read about Egypt.

I was fascinated by this book from beginning to end. To learn that Cairo possesses the second oldest university, is built on the Nile River, and is the capital of Egypt is fascinating. With such an ancient civilization, there is a wealth of history in Egypt. Carole did an excellent job in teaching about this awesome country within a short storybook format. You constantly hear about the artwork along the walls of the pyramids and just reading about it makes me want to experience it more. In the If You Were Me and Lived in… series, there is so much to explore and see that, as you turn the pages with young travelers, you will leave thinking that you're actually been there.
