Author Biography

I'm a Southern girl from the great city of New Orleans or N'awlins, as some would call it. I was born into a family of visual artists and writers. My mother is a writer and poet. Needless to say, she passed down her gift to me, and I embraced it wholeheartedly.

I grew up in a household of 15 people, 2 adults and 13 children. I am the sixth child and also one of the middle children. I was always independent with lots of friends in the neighborhood and at school. I was popular for my academics, creativity, and being a part of a big family. I made a name for myself then and continue to do so now with my work.

When I was only seven, I published my first short story at school. I wasn't quite finished with my book because I was changing schools. So I guess I've always had some unfinished business.

The reason I changed schools suddenly is because I was failing terribly. My dyslexia kept me from keeping up. It left me feeling embarrassed and humiliated, not being able to do simple tasks such as telling the time on an analog clock.

As I grew older, I learned to manage my dyslexia and became a scholar, then a degree earner, then an author. Currently, I am "mastering" the work of an author and serving with purpose. Dive into my masterpiece, and take a seat at my table!

I'm Still G.O.O.D. - Getting Over Obstacles Daily volume 2 by Bianca A. McCormick-Johnson is a self-help book that shows how our upbringing and our thoughts shape our lives as we grow older. This volume covers the stages of our life (infancy, adulthood, and more), the times when we are confused and in doubt, how we make our relationships, how dating affects us, and how dating/marriage has an impact on our lives. The author also touches on what we conceive as a blessing and what is a burden for us. The author gives a few exercises, shares some harsh truths, gives readers enough of a wake-up call to change their minds, and allows them some breathing room to make the necessary changes. The author says the road is tough, but with commitment and knowledge, you will have a better life that you create for yourself.

The advice she shares is priceless, the little bits of poetry she shares are hopeful and she gift wraps her words with a dose of positivity to connect everything together. Putting things into perspective is much easier when you have someone to talk to calmly. This book is like that. I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs help putting things into perspective and wants to make life better.

In the first volume of I'm Still G.O.O.D., we follow Bianca A. McCormick-Johnson as she opens up in recounting the tumultuous periods in her life and how this led her to discover the power of faith and fortitude. In this second volume, she is back with the same unapologetic stance on her personal beliefs as she guides you on how to deal with life’s challenges head-on. If you are looking for a cradling-type of self-help, this is not for you. Think of this book as a supplemental guide on your path towards dealing with your personal issues. Life’s obstacles are perennial, and the practical advice contained herein hopes to help you become stronger to get through life with ease. The case examples she presents of people facing tough challenges point to the idea that insufficient guidance, knowledge, and opportunity are not always the reasons for our mistakes. It tells us that we do not have the capacity to do everything right, but that we do possess problem-solving skills that can be sharpened through resourcefulness, flexibility, resilience, and social interaction.

I’m Still G.O.O.D. presents a personal form of guidance that anyone can exercise without the help of a psychologist. By virtue of her background and personal experience, Ms. McCormick-Johnson has carefully developed and evaluated the weight of her straightforward approach that readers could self-administer as adjuncts to paid counseling. Of course, she is also aware that her well-intentioned instructional material is not the answer to it all. She stresses that experience is the best teacher. Compliance and follow-through are important factors that will have a significant impact if you choose to follow this book. While the overall tone of I’m Still G.O.O.D. is blunt and unrelenting, perhaps it is because tough love is what you need to get through your trying times.
