Xen Ovid-Sophron-Naso’s Inceptum Incubus is a sci-fi novella that gave me a fantastic ride through a bold vision of tomorrow (eons in the making). I was fascinated by how the author paints this terrifying universe where legal courts lock people away in freezing cryogenic stasis pods for centuries. The story transitions smoothly from giant space dogfights during the Aquion War to sneaky espionage plots involving stolen satellite blueprints on a frozen world. It’s intriguing how deeply the concepts of corporate automation and corrupt judges are woven into this stellar world. The story never lags, giving you lots of time to wrap your mind around black hole physics before plunging straight back into corrupt political schemes. The setting is very expansive and distinct, taking us across vast star systems with unique economies and armies. The clash taking shape between human citizens and synthetic workers makes for a truly compelling read. If you’re in the mood for a creative take on high-stakes galactic scheming, I recommend this captivating sci-fi tale.
