Deployed to locate and destroy an ancient temple, Marine Lance Corporal Chase Brooks' unit is met by an army of reanimated corpses. Witnessing the undead annihilating his team, Chase discharges an explosive that brings the temple down on them all. Waking in a stateside hospital three weeks later, Chase learns he is medically discharged from the Marines and considered unhinged. When two zombies assault him in his hospital room, Chase realizes the enemy has followed him and is a deadly threat to the United States. Evading the psychiatrist's efforts to hospitalize him, Chase walks out of the hospital on a self-appointed mission to exterminate the unholy menace. Can he succeed before it's too late? Or will Chase succumb to the deadly forces of evil?
Invasion of the Undead (The Deathstalker Chronicles: Book 1) by Dan Coglan is a heart-stopping, goosebump-raising horror story. With a dynamic plot, spellbinding storyline, and action-packed scenes, the novel had me on the edge of my seat until its harrowing and spine-tingling conclusion. Opening with an explosive scene, the story's fast pace continues throughout, keeping the feelings of suspense, apprehension, and dread alive to the final page. Once I picked the book up, there was no putting it back down! It is a stunning start to a series, and I am looking forward to reading the next episode. Brimming with blood, guts, and gore, fans of zombie fiction will not want to miss this phenomenal new series.
